ABOUT
Xinyu Chen is a visual designer from China, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Integrated Design at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK Bremen). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from Jincheng College of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
After completing her undergraduate studies, she spent two years developing a self-initiated practice, gradually strengthening her design skills and expanding her perspectives through independent projects. During this period, she began to form a practice centered on social observation and emotional experience.
Xinyu is a curious person, as well as introverted and attentive. She approaches design not only as a profession, but as a long-term mode of thinking and expression. Through design, she reflects on subtle changes in everyday life and translates personal perception into visual language.
Her practice focuses on graphic design, image experimentation, and video. She often takes personal experience and emotional perception as starting points, connecting visual language with social phenomena and lived realities. Through walking in cities and careful observation, she pays attention to emotions and social conditions that are often left unspoken, and seeks to transform invisible pressures, shared anxieties, and quiet tensions into forms that can be seen, felt, and reflected upon.
Currently based in Germany, her studies and daily life within a different cultural context continue to shape her perspective, allowing her to approach broader global topics with greater openness while reflecting on emotional experiences shared across cultures.
