In contemporary society, serious social events are being transformed into objects of entertainment consumption. Internet entertainment attracts attention through sensory stimulation, but it causes people to become numb to serious issues and lose their ability to think deeply. I divide the objects of entertainment into four categories: violence, history, disasters and suffering, death and war. Through this visual project, we hope to reveal how the mass media gradually simplifies and packages negative events into consumable visual symbols, and in the process, inadvertently weakens the actual severity of the events, and even triggers a phenomenon of “aesthetic fatigue”. This project aims to trigger reflection: while pursuing sensory stimulation, are we losing our sensitivity and critical thinking on serious issues? Is entertainment creating a world that is glamorous on the surface but empty? Through experiments, I hope to call on people to pay attention to depth and meaning again, and avoid being swept away by sensory stimulation.
